Uno de los objetivos principales que hemos perseguido para la casa hermandad es el de recuperar de la tradición religiosa lo que de ella tienen en común todas las religiones, la luz. Como lugar más representativo del edificio, el salón de tronos se ve relegado con normalidad a la función de mero almacenamiento de los tronos durante 364 días al año. Para recuperar este espacio de tan singular uso lo hemos bañado durante el día de una luz cambiante, dorada, tenue y vibrante, invirtiendo el proceso durante la noche para servir de farol al adentrarse en los callejones del Perchel.
Escogemos elementos de la tradición popular y los tratamos explotando sus condiciones de textura, movimiento y sensualidad, acercando las gentes del barrio a una arquitectura de los sentidos, contemporánea y sostenible. Se ha tejido una celosía con tres mil doscientos metros de cuerda de esparto de 3 cms de diámetro. El aprendizaje lo recogemos de la historia de este antiguo barrio de pescadores, de cómo tejían sus redes y de como aún hoy, en cesterías y casas, se entrecruza el mimbre para crear sinuosos y bellos entramados traslucidos. Entre la tradición y el simbolismo, el trenzado de esparto evoca cíngulos de nazarenos, sandalias de pescadores y noches estrelladas.
One of the main objectives that we pursued for the House of the brotherhood is the recovery from the religious tradition of that which all of it has in common: the light. As the most representative space in the building, the Throne Hall is normally gifted with the function of mere storage place for the thrones for 364 days per year. To recover this space of such singular use we chose to bathe it during the day in a changing light, golden, faint and vibrant, and invert the process during the night so that it served as a lantern when strolling through the streets of Perchel.
We choose elements of popular tradition and we treat them in order to exploit their conditions of texture, movement and sensuality, bringing to the people of the neighbourhood an architecture of the senses, contemporary and sustainable. A lattice has been woven of three thousand and two hundred meters of straw cord of 3 cm in diameter. We learn from the history of this old fishermen neighbourhood, from the way they wove their nets and from how even in present days, in basket shops and houses, the wicker is woven to create beautiful, winding translucent frameworks. Between tradition and symbolism, the straw braid recalls cinctures of Nazarenes, fishermen´s sandals and starry nights.
