This is a place found in an obvious state of deterioration and degradation. The space occupied by vehicles is overwhelming and shunts the pedestrian aside to subordinate and marginal positions. A succession of parking lots, double lanes and middle divisions create a clear border between the two sides of the avenue.

We want to transform this area of the Antonio Machado Boulevard into one of the main public spaces of the municipality, into the square that creates connections between the different places of interest of the area that are currently disconnected: the Art Center, the Promenade and the Sol y Mar Square. In order to do this we propose to reverse the current character of the public space, reserving the largest part of the space to pedestrians and green areas, to the detriment of the vehicles, and generating new places of rest and vegetation that restore the dignity and beauty which support the carring out of activities and the use and provision of services inherent to the local population.

The refurbishment of the avenue start by selecting the use of each lane, establishing a bike lane, a preferred route for public transportation and taxi and another route for car traffic in each direction. Parking lots will be moved to the existing underground infrastructure which is currently underused. This operation allows us to restore 750 sqm of public space to the city of Benalmádena.
